Imagine a world where children are heard, seen and appreciated for who they choose to be. A world where they are seen as an extension of the natural world, rather than yet another thing to fit into a box. Imagine this world as real.
Starchild Yoga teacher training merges the Montessori principles of education with the practice of Kundalini Yoga to create an enjoyable and elevating way for children to learn, and also to find their place in the world. Taking the adult practice of Kundalini Yoga and breaking it down to its most basic form, teachers are trained to instruct the 5 main parts of a Kundalini Yoga class in a way that moves with the child and offers them a place to simply be.
Kundalini Yoga is the perfect platform to introduce a conscious way to be with children. By nature, the practice for adults is metaphysical and can be pretty intense. This is because it takes hard work to dissolve the many layers of patterned behaviour adults collect over the years. Kundalini yoga is a yoga of awareness and transformation. It works on many levels, exploring a variety of yogic aspects, which expands on the physical practice, hence its potency.
Within the structure of a children’s yoga class, you will find the same routine as in an adult class. The difference is how the exercises are chosen, adapted and taught in order to be age appropriate, child centred and fun. The adult practice is stripped to its most basic state. As children grow, they progress with the practice. The teacher is led by the children, delivering what is needed at each stage of development. Practicing a style of yoga that includes mantra, asana, pranayama, relaxation and meditation from an early age, takes children on a path filled with compassion, stability, strength and good habits, among many other essential qualities.
Taught in a joyful and positive way, Kundalini Yoga teaches valuable life skills on and off the mat, offering children the on-going chance to explore their potential.
