The GRDP presents an opportunity for seva and a way to ensure the teachings reach those who need them most during these challenging times..

What is this project all about?

The Guru Ram Das Project is continuing its work providing classes for those who are vulnerable or in crisis during the current lockdown. Even as restrictions ease, there are still many people in isolation. Our client groups range from young people to the elderly, and include those with mobility difficulties, mental health service users and recovering addicts. Whilst not all of them could safely practise a ‘normal’ class at home unsupervised, most will be able to safely follow Chair Yoga exercises and meditations remotely. Since Chair Yoga is still yoga, able bodied people also benefit from practising it. Our Chair Yoga classes are available on a dedicated Youtube channel and distributed free of charge.

How have we progressed to date? We have had a few teachers come forward and record classes, but we want to continue to add videos to make this resource as useful as possible. We have made all of our current partner organisations aware of the channel and we are already reaching people who are experiencing the benefits of our Chair Yoga classes. Our next step is to find new organisations to introduce the channel to.

You can take a look at the channel here.

How Can You Help?

We are still looking for qualified Kundalini Yoga Teachers to record classes. If everybody did just one class, we would have the most amazing resource. You don’t need to have an audience, just teach the camera. Content can be simple warms up and a meditation (and/or celestial communication). Or can be a full yoga kriya. Class length can be anything from 20-90 mins. We will help you as much as we can to produce it and can provide some guidance for adapting to Chair Yoga.

We also want to find organisations to benefit from the teachings – so if you know of any, please contact us.

If you would like to know more or record a class please email Seva Manjoti at info@grdp.com
